Home – Zuhause – Heimat – - – - – wo?

Ich bin ganz gut “rumgekommen”, fühle mich an vielen Orten daheim und wohl. Kreativ bin ich immer und überall in irgendeiner Form. Berlin hat mich geprägt. Dennoch habe ich in Frankfurt und im Kahlgrund den Leuten “aufs Maul geschaut” und mir meine Verse gemacht. In Frankreich wurde ich zu französischen Chansons inspiriert. Überall finde ich allerhand Schrott für Recyclings. Auf Jamaika finde ich die Muße für die Muse. Wo bin ich daheim?

 

Home – where is it? Having lived in different places makes it difficult to decide this question.  Berlin has strongly influenced my way to think and to express myself. Nevertheless I like to speak and write the idiom of Frankfurt and its surroundings. In France I got inspiration for French chansons. All over the world I find old stuff to transform it into some object of art. Jamaica is my special place to relax. Where is my home?

Biografisches

Geboren bin ich in Frankfurt am Main, meine Kindheit genoss ich im Spessart, meine Jugend in Frankfurt, erfuhr mir die Welt mit dem Fahrrad und heiratete nach  Berlin. Ich studierte in Frankfurt und Berlin Germanistik, Romanistik und Soziologie. Erst nachdem Ehe und Kinder abgehakt waren, setzte sich bei mir die künstlerische Ader durch, die in der Familie liegt.

1979 entschied ich mich für das Leben als freischaffende Künstlerin, damals mit Keramik. Später kam die Malerei dazu, das Kreieren von Objekten aus Schrott, die Beschäftigung mit Fotografie und das Liedermachen, hervorgegangen aus meiner ältesten Leidenschaft, dem Gedichteschreiben. Damit habe ich bereits als Achtjährige angefangen. Ausstellungen und Auftritte hatte ich u.a. in Berlin, Frankfurt, Peking, Paris und Nizza. Mein Kunstatelier MUSENKUSS ist mein Haus im Spessart, ca. 50 km von Frankfurt am Main, in Mömbris-Molkenberg. Dort habe ich 1998 auch ein kleines Museum eingerichtet mit den Werken meines Vaters, des Zeichners und Liedermachers Otto Leis, und meiner beiden Großväter, Wilhelm Leis und Ernst Prinz, die beide zeichneten und malten.

I was born in Frankfurt am Main, enjoyed my childhood in a little village in the Spessart mountains, my youth in Frankfurt. I went through Germany and its neighbouring countries by bycicle, studied languages and sociology in Frankfurt and Berlin. Only when marriage and children were “ticked off”, arts – lying in the genes of my family – took hold of me.

In 1979 I decided for a life as freelance artist, at that time with ceramics. Later I started with painting, creating objets d’art out of old stuff, photography, making songs – the latter following out of my earliest passion, poetry. My first poems I made at the age of 8 years. I had exhibitions and performances in Berlin, Frankfurt, Beijing, Paris and Nice. My studio is my house in the village of my childhood in the Spessart mountains, about 50 km from Frankfurt. There I also have a little museum with the works of my father and both my grandfathers.
